My friends and I returned from Mexico almost a week ago but I’m desperately missing our long days spent on the beach and dancing into the wee hours of the morning.
To everyone who’s asked, I’ve said that this trip was one of the best I’ve ever taken. And there are many reasons why.
I could go on for hours (seriously) about all of the inside jokes and funny moments that occurred. About watching the sun set and rise on the roof of our building. About the sheer satisfaction on everyone’s faces when biting into our first street tacos and tortas.
I’d tell you about how incredibly fun dancing in the clubs each night was, how house music was always playing in the kitchen and how beer on the beach under the Mexican sun tastes so much better.
I’d tell you why sailing on the ocean on a catamaran is more than worth it and why bringing your snorkel is a must. Why just sitting and taking it all in is the best thing you could ever do.
I’d tell you about La Quinta Avenida–the main stretch of road that’s lined with shops, restaurants and bars–that we walked down every day on the way to the beach and back. Passing by so much culture and life always left me in wonder and appreciation.
I’d tell you to visit Tulum, one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been, full of history and culture. I’d tell you to swim out into the ocean and imagine how the ruins looked way before our time.
Still, though, of all these wonderful things I encountered every day in Playa, my favorite part was spending each day with people I love, care about, laugh at and laugh with. My best friends.
I doubt the week would have been half as good without these people.
And now, as I nostalgically sift through photos and videos of our crazy time in Mexico, I can’t help but wonder where and when our next trip will be…
